Life Cycle Planner 1 - Creating a New Plan

To begin a life cycle plan first open the structure you want to create a plan for. Whilst on the structure summary page click the Life cycle plan tab at the top.

Alternatively click the Life cycle plan menu item in the Actions menu and select your structure.

Viewing Existing Life Cycle Plans
At the top of the Life Cycle Plan page you can see a list of existing plans. This list summarises the details of the plans. Click the Delete link at the end to remove a plan from the list. Click the Date Created link on the left to edit an existing plan.

Creating a New Life Cycle Plan
Below the View Existng Life Cycle Plan section is the Create Life Cycle Plan section. Here you can:
  1. Give a title to the new plan
  2. Specify element Environment/Traffic values using the drop downs
  3. Define the intervention threshold

The element listing is restricted to:

  • those elements that have a corresponding component in the Components folder in the left-hand Structure menu and,
  • elements that have also been inspected as part of at least one CSS inspection in the Inspection folder in the left-hand Structure menu.

So if there is an element missing from the Create Life Cycle Plan element listing make sure that it has both a component and a condition rating from at least one CSS inspection. The elements condition rating from the most recent CSS inspection acts as the Starting Condition for the element when the life cycle plan deterioration profile is generated.

To generate a plan:

1. Add a title to the plan. Make using the text input at the top
2. Check that all elements have Exposure to Environment/Traffic and Material values. If they do not red asterisk warnings will show (see below). Click the Edit link to the right of the Severity/Extent columns to complete this information

3. Complete the Intervention Threshold.
Here you can either use the drop downs to specify Optimal and Safety Critical thresholds. Or you can stick with the default values. When adding user defined thresholds you must give a reason for doing so in the input box below.

4. Click the Create Life Cycle Plan button. From here you can view the deterioration profile.
